Lucky Hooves
Bet pretend coins on cartoon horses, and type your way to a racehorse of your own.
Every day at the track there are five races. Read the race card, check the form and the ground, and bet Win, Place or Show. With 2,000 coins and the Reporter typing rank, Riverside Park opens: bigger stakes, rain that softens the ground, and Exacta bets.
Between races, take typing shifts at the track newspaper, The Daily Gallop. It's a real touch-typing course: new keys as you learn, drills, and a daily typing test. Shifts pay coins and can earn you a tip on the day's races, and your typing speed becomes your own foal's stats. Practise every day, buy your foal and race it all the way to the Grand Derby.
Features
- Win, Place, Show, Exacta and Trifecta bets, with odds from 1,000 simulated races
- Two racecourses and the Grand Derby, with rain, photo finishes and confetti
- A real touch-typing course that raises your horse
- Saves after every race
Controls: the mouse for menus and bets, the keyboard for typing. Space starts the next race, Esc goes back.
The coins are pretend. There is no real money in this game, ever.
Made with AI
Claude, an AI by Anthropic, made this game from my directions: the plan, all the code (about 7,500 lines of GDScript), every picture (47 hand-written SVG files) and every sound and tune (made in Python). Watch how it was made:
Windows: unzip and double-click LuckyHooves.exe. The game isn't signed, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Click "More info", then "Run anyway".
